Cassie Hutchinson, RN, CCM

President for 2009

Cassie Hutchinson has 26 years of nursing experience.  She spent the first part of her nursing career as a staff nurse in Neonatal ICU at different hospitals in Southern and Northern California before becoming interested and entering the Case Management arena, which has been her primary focus for the last 15 years.  Cassie has become proficient in all aspects of Utilization Management, Case Management, Disease Management and Worker’s Compensation.  Cassie currently works for Sutter Health as a Medical Management Manager of Continuum Case Management.  She manages Case Management for three Sutter Health Physician medical groups.

Cassie is serving in the capacity of President for the Sacramento chapter of CMSA.  She holds certifications in Neonatal Nursing, Utilization Management and Case Management.  She lives in Sacramento, California with her son.  She enjoys reading and spending time with her extended family in southern California. 

  
  

 

Marilyn Edwards, RN,CCM

  With over 20 years in case management, Marilyn Edwards has experience in multiple settings including worker's compensation, group health, long term care and rehabilitation. Marilyn is best known for her advocacy of the catastrophically injured population and specifically those with brain injuries. Marilyn is currently an independent case manager.

Marilyn is currently serving in the capacity of Member at Large on the board of the Sacramento chapter of CMSA. Her goal for the year is to promote Case Management Week. She previously served as chair of the membership committee.

Marilyn was a founding member of the No CA chapter of CMSA and served as Vice President, Treasurer and board member for a number of years.

Marilyn has also served as National Secretary of CMSA 

 

Frank S. Hall

  Bio:Frank comes to CMSA with 16 years of nursing experience.  After completing a fellowship in intensive and trauma care at a Level I Washington, D.C. hospital, he spent the first part of his career as an ICU staff nurse in his home state of Texas.  He went on to pursue his Master's in Nursing.  He graduated in 1999 with his MSN and became dual board certified as a Family and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. 
While practicing in Internal Medicine, he was also the Service Line Development Manager in Orthopedics at the hospital where he had privileges.  During this period he co-managed the case management staff and at that point, began pursuit of his career in the practice of professional Case Management.
Since coming to California in 2003, Frank has been in Worker's Compensation and Disability Management and is currently a Managed Care Supervisor for a national, third-party administrator based in Sacramento. He oversees a staff of case management and utilization review nurses in this position.
Frank is also a consultant for the California Board of Registered Nursing as a member of the Diversion Evaluation Committee.   As well, he is an Associate Clinical Instructor at Samuel Merritt University for the Masters in Nursing program.

 

Terese Green, RN

 Terese has been an RN for 22 years after receiving her BSN from University of San Francisco in 85. She started her career as an Army RN and her travels offered her the opportunity to wear many hats. She started in General Medicine in Texas, moved to ICU/RR in Louisiana and did Cardiac care in Indiana. Here in California, She was a Diabetes Nurse Educator before entering the Case Management field. She has done both inpatient and out patient case managment and currently works for Sacramento County in the Medically Indigent Services Program thru Health by Design for the last 3 1/2 years
When not at work she can be found romping around Roseville and the Bay Area with her husband, 3 teenagers and 2 labs.

 

 

 Jonell Maple, RN

Jonell Maple spent the first 15 years of her nursing career in Southern California as a staff nurse in the cardiac step-down unit at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. Venturing out into the insurance world, she first became a Medical Utilization Review Nurse for Prudential Insurance and later advanced to becoming a Medical Case Manager for Prudential and then Health Net. It was during her employment in 1993 that she first became certified as a case manager.

 Following employment as a home care supervisor, Jonell moved to Sacramento, where she was employed for 5 years at Blue Shield of California with positions as a Medical Case Manager, Clinical Educator, and Supervisor for their Federal Employee Program. Her last position at Blue Shield of California was as Case Management Supervisor. It was while she was at Blue Shield that she retested for the CCM exam and became re-certified in 2002.   Jonell is currently at Life Masters Supported Self-care, Inc. in Rancho Cordova as Team Manager for Education and Development. She lives in Folsom, California with her wonderful husband of 7 years, her cat Romeo and dog Java.

 

Peg Cannon, Health By Design

 Peg Cannon has over 30 years of experience in different aspects of case management.  Peg began her career as a discharge planner in acute hospital in Minnesota.  After a move to Sacramento for her Masters program, Peg spent 20 years as the  Case Management Director for a major health system, where she designed and managed an array of comprehensive care management programs to meet the needs of individuals and their families.  For the last 10 years, Peg has been the owner of Health By Design, an innovative case management staffing company that assists nurses in finding their ideal job in the managed care arena of health care.

 

 Nancy Sproull, RN

 Nancy brings over 25 years of experience integrating wellness programs and initiatives through a variety of delivery methods including designing and implementing community-based wellness programs, worksite programs, and health insurance-based programs.   

Nancy owned her own business for 16 years providing on-site occupational health nurses in corporations where the wellness programs are interwoven through the on-site occupational health nurse. She lead innovative projects such as a partnership between Ford Motor Company, the UAW, and the University of Michigan to provide an on-site cardiovascular intervention program in which the research indicating financial returns was published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Nancy is currently employed by Blue Shield of California where she developed and inplemented a Health Advocate program to support members across the whole continuum of health. She also manages an innovative Guided Imagery Program coupled with nurse calls to members before and after hospitalisations.

Nancy has presented at the Ohio Department of Health Conferece, Tri- State Occupational Health Conference, and the Northeast Ohio College of Medicine Occupational Health Conference. Nancy has worked with U.S. Congress to introduce legislation to support corporations by reducing health care premium for emploers providing wellness and disease managment programs; this bill is now a portion of HIPPA.

Nancy is a registered nurse with a master's degree in community health, certified in case management as well as occupational health nursing.
